OE teaching materials
Old English language
I enclose documents to help students visualise the different grammatical categories, their features and forms, as well as documents to help the students learn some OE vocabulary. Most of the documents on OE grammar were created with dyslexic students in mind, given that it is commonly claimed that they (like other non-dyslexic students) learn best when visual information is combined with kinaesthetic techniques.

The Hackness Cross
Archaeology
PowerPoint presentation with recent (2006) photographs. St Peter's Church in Hackness, North Yorkshire, contains a remarkable Anglo-Saxon memorial cross (8th century), which commemorates 'Abbess Oedilburga' (possibly Ethelburga). Reflecting the scholarly interests of Northumbria at this period, it is incscribed in three different alphabets, only one of which can be read: it's Latin. The other two inscriptions are written in hahal runes (this might be English) and ogham (this might be Irish).
The pictures are annotated and further reading is supplied.
