Description

St Nicholas' Church is situated on a hill overlooking the Cherwell Valley in the village of Tackley, Oxfordshire. The nave of the church, though primarily Norman in date, preserves some pre-Conquest features. The arches visible in the stonework (on the exterior and interior) on the north and south side of the nave are thought to be pre-Conquest, and therefore Late Saxon. The original north aisle was removed at some stage, but part of the arches which composed the north aisle are now preserved in the north wall of the nave.
