Description

The foundations of the Porticus of St Gregory, the chapel along the north wall of the church of SS Peter & Paul at St Augustine's Abbey, Canterbury, and the place where the early archbishops of Canterbury were buried. Now several feet below ground level, this is the only part of the original early 7th century church now exposed to public view. The three white stones are the grave markers of Justus, Laurence, and Mellitus.
